Canberra - Australia's Capital

Canberra (check) - Although the Nation's capital, Canberra has little in common with Washington DC. Apparently the Australian's do not take much interest in promoting their capital city.

We left on Boxing Day (26th of December) for our road trip to Sydney. We decided to stay in Canberra for the night. We are grateful that we didn't plan to spend much time there, nothing was going on. The city is well thought out, spacious, green and lovely, but ultimately boring. It was built in the 1960s and the architecture was nice, but nothing to write home about. We did walk down by the lake and we went around many roundabouts...which are a part of our everyday Australian experience.

Questacon
Australia's National Science and Technology Centre

The favorite part of our Canberra stay was going to Questacon, a huge children's science museum. We did some great things: experienced a free fall and went on a rollercoaster simulator at Sideshow, played with rulers and rings at Measure Island and got wet and wild in MiniQ . The kids and parents alike spent many hours playing in all the exhibits and enjoying all of the fun things that Questacon provided.
So, if you were to ask us if we would recommend going to Canberra the answer would of course be yes...like us you should check it off of your list, but make sure you include Questacon in your things to do, because really that is one of the only things to do!
