The Great Ocean Road - Day 1

One of the highlights of our time here has been experiencing the many beautiful sights of Australia. They vary in many ways, but are each amazing. We spent the weekend before Christmas driving on the Great Ocean Road. On the first day we enjoyed (?) a Vegemite and cheese roll (we actually didn't realize it was Vegemite when we ordered it, but we were able to convince the kids to eat around the Vegemite and everyone was happy!).
We also enjoyed many views.
Our favourite stop of the day was along the Kennett River where we could look up into the gum trees and spot Koalas in their natural habitat. Colin was the first to spot one, and although it took some convincing for us to believe that he had actually found one, we soon spotted dozens. Jared was extremely excited when he was able to see them and will still ask to see "Nutellas" whenever he looks up in a tree.

This area looks beautiful! I can't get over all the wonderful sites you all are getting to experience. I miss you so much and can't wait to hear about all your adventures in person...if we can get you back over here! After these pictures, I'm not sure how exciting Texas is looking!

I found this about vegemite: It sounds rather bad tasting. Vegemite is popular with many Australians, who commonly consider it a national food and a cultural icon.[1] It can be found in shops around the world, particularly where there are large populations of Australian expatriates. Vegemite has not been successfully marketed in other countries, apart from New Zealand, and has failed to catch on in the United States, despite being owned by US food company Kraft Foods. When seen in the United States, the Vegemite label often does not contain the Kraft logo.
